The partner site Heidelberg of the DZIF covers all aspects of translation, from basic and pre-clinical to clinical and population science to implementation research and public health translation, with a special focus on the pathogens causing AIDS, hepatitis, malaria, tuberculosis, and emerging infections, as well as on immunocompromised patients employing DZIF infrastructural measures like the DZIF transplant cohort, the TI BBD (tissue biobanking), high-end imaging techniques (BSL2 and BSL3), and a first-in-human clinical trial unit.
